I've found that I can choose "hp premium plus photo paper, glossy" in the driver's dialog and it produces very similar results whether I'm using the glossy paper or this Soft Gloss variety. The glossy version of this paper is very easy to find, and on my printer, the driver does not list the Soft Gloss as one of the paper choices. Unfortunately, the office supply chains in my area (Seattle) never carry the Soft Gloss surface in the 4圆 size, only in the bigger sizes. The Soft Gloss is pretty easy to find In the letter size (8.5x11), and the office supply chains frequently have 2 for 1 sales, which makes the cost reasonable. It's a little shinier than a full matte surface, but that's OK with me, as it allows it to show contrast, saturation and detail that rivals the glossy stuff. It has a substantial base and the surface cuts down on reflections without wiping out the fine details in the photograph. This paper produces great results in my elderly Photosmart 7150 printer. I'm sure you will agree that its great paper. I suggest you get it, especially given the cost, and try it. I know I didn't get into specs and specifics in this review, but if I do, you will just over think this choice with spec. But get this It's half the price of the matte! And easier to find. I printed a photo on both papers, matte and soft gloss the soft gloss just simply gave a little more of what I loved about the matte. The colors were vibrant and true, and the gloss was inviting (not cheesy). Of course you have to take a good picture first, but once I printed, I had to contain myself because my client were like WOW! And I was too, I was just trying to play it cool, but I could see another level of quality. So, I snap the shot and print it that's it. The first time I used it, it was at an event that I was providing a shoot n print service. All I could say was, WHY OH WHY didn't I try this before (unless it wasn't available). BUT, It's expensive! Sooo, I tried this HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Soft Gloss. My clients love it, and it rivals anything I've ordered from the so-called pro labs. I've been using the HP Premium matte photo paper. Always looking for the perfect paper to print my own photos to provide the best product. But I shoot formal protriats in home settings, out doors, events, etc. I'm a semi-pro photographer, and I only say semi-pro because I've had no formal training (self taught).
